After her own harrowing experience with misdiagnosis and a lack of support during perimenopause, Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has reimagined her wellness brand Respin as a comprehensive health platform dedicated to menopause care and female longevity.

“Menopause was never spun in the first place,” Berry said of her decision to refocus Respin, which originally launched in 2020 as a general wellness platform. “It’s a new spin on what this is and what this means to women’s health, what this means to a woman, what this time of life means, and what it can be all about—it definitely needs a re-spin.”

The 58-year-old actress’s mission became personal when she experienced perimenopause symptoms at age 54 and faced multiple misdiagnoses from healthcare providers. This experience revealed a critical gap in women’s healthcare that affects millions. “We refuse to understand that menopause is a thing. It’s a very important time in a woman’s life when she needs to be cared for and understand what is happening to her body so she can live her best life in the next 30 years,” Berry explained in an interview with TIME.

The Respin Health platform takes a holistic, tech-forward approach, creating personalized health plans using over 150 data points to assess each woman’s unique menopause experience. During a recent pilot program, 90 percent of participants reported symptom improvement, with nearly two-thirds experiencing “clinically significant improvement” in just eight weeks.

The platform offers four key features: community support, expert content, curated commerce, and personalized care. A premium subscription service provides access to health coaches, nutritionists, and medical professionals who help women navigate their symptoms and create individualized health plans.

“As women, we’ve been told that it’s just what happens when you get older—you just have to white-knuckle it, grin and bear it,” Berry told Women’s Health. “Well, no, that’s just not good enough.”

Berry has also partnered with intimate wellness company Joylux to develop products addressing specific menopause-related issues, including an intimacy gel and a specialized wellness device. “What excites me most is the chance to really change the conversation around menopause and midlife health for women. It’s been an overlooked subject for far too long,” Berry shared with ESSENCE.

The global menopause market is expected to reach more than $28 billion by 2028, yet current marketing efforts are failing to connect with women experiencing “the change.” A 2023 study found that only 7 percent of women aged 35 to 60 think brands are messaging “very well” to menopause concerns.

Beyond product development, Berry is advocating for policy changes and increased research funding. “It’s for women to get the healthcare they really deserve in midlife—more clinical trials, more therapies developed for us—because it’s so lacking,” she explained to Oprah Daily.

With an estimated 75 million American women experiencing some stage of menopause and 6,000 more entering this phase daily, Berry’s platform aims to fill a critical gap in healthcare and support. Respin Health offers both free community resources and premium subscription services starting at $18 monthly for basic access, with comprehensive health coaching plans available at higher price points.

“We’re now building what I wish I’d had access to,” Berry stated. “We are focused on making this experience better for women, and that starts with being rooted in community, backed by science, and leveraging technology to scale. We’re redefining what it means to live a healthy life during your second act.”
